Is it one of those cases where it works exactly like “marriage before a justice of the peace (or whatever other government agent performs them in that country)” but gets a different name so if it’s “partnership” it means same-gender and if it’s “marriage” it means different-gender? Or are there any differences? Gosh, that was one long and complicated question, sorry. ---

There are differences - they still can’t jointly adopt etc. But they get rights in terms of leaving stuff to each other etc. ---
