The spaghetti on a hot dog bun was one of his first forays, when he was more overtly “neo” Japanese. (He still swills Coke and uses ketchup as an ingredient, I assume for equal parts showmanship, taste and to honk off the Samurai contingent of Japanese traditionalists who are torqued off at him.)

What the hell, it’s still great fun and a much greater culinary eye-opener than most of the Food Network pap. But I’d still love seeing Emeril and Martha (Android) Stewart faced with “Chairman Kaga” and his glitter duds.

Yes, you’re right on that. His cooking was themed to the Japanese Boy’s Festival (or something). Yuck, remember the split fish head soup he made to go with it? The eyes looked like poached egg yolks. :::shudder:::

That’s it. ‘Children’s Day’.

The other guy’s presentation was better than his, I think. Less mega-bizarre, and yet more visually interesting.

## I’ve never seen the show, but by the way you described this I could totally see it in my head and let out a big ol’ guffaw! Sounds HILARIOUS!

“I get the meat and the cheese, but why the bun?”
“Yeah, a bun is neither meat nor cheese.”
“Word!”
