Here in Seattle, we had pigs. Big metal pigs scattered all over the city and each designed differently. One looked like a city bus, another wore a Mariners uniform. My favorite was the one that was _meant_ to be vandalized. It had a small compartment from which you could get a piece of chalk and draw whatever you wanted on the pig’s green hide. Very cool. Good thing PETA never got wind of it, I guess. 😉 ---

Sharks in San Jose (like our hockey team - get it?) My favorite was in the lobby of the building across the street. It was painted and accessorized to look like the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine, complete with little windows through which John, Paul George and Ringo looked out, just like the film. Many of the shark statutes were vandalized, but they were restored and all of them now grace the interior of our local hockey arena, which is known locally as the “Shark Tank.” ---

When I heard they were doing elephants and donkeys in D.C., I just _knew_ there’d be problems, especially people getting upset or vandalizing animals for the party they disagree with. People are so idiotic sometimes. We should have done **weasels** instead. I think that would have been hysterical. This town could use a little self-deprecating humor. **Avalonian** - I saw those pigs last summer. What’s the connection between Seattle and pigs?? ---

Here in Cincinnati we had pigs because we once were considered the pig capital of the United States. I know, I know, but it’s better than being called the serial murderer capital of the world, which might be more accurate. ---

You can get a bit more info at the [Pigs on Parade](http://www.pigsonparade.org/) website. Basically, the pigs were all modelled after Rachel, the piggybank at Pike Place Market. There are Monopoly man scupltures in downtown Brooklyn’s Metrotech Center. I’m not sure if they are supposed to be the guy from the Monopoly game, however Metrotech center is the Brooklyn home of many financial companies. I especially like the one of an alligator dragging a Monopoly man baby down a manhole. Of course this was the one people complained about. ---

I think that Toronto had Moose a couple of years ago. IIRC, one was sporting a tye dye colour scheme. ---
