Here in Cleveland we have 10-foot-tall guitars …I think 90 of them… that will be auctioned off in Oct. My favorite is near my store, and features roadie butt-crack. Drew Carey’s entry is late. Those two statements are in no way related. ---

If the Green party wanted their smybol noticed, and if they had any sense (or wit) they would have dropped the lawsuit and sent people out at night to bedeck the stautes in sunflowers. Now that would have been charming. ---

One, in Nuernberg, Germany, in the square in front of Albrecht Duerer’s house there is a bronze statue of a rabbit (hare?) based on one of the master’s watercolors. It is a hoot! Both fluffy and menacing. If I could figure out how to do a link to it I would. Maybe some computer literate Doper could do it for me. Maybe not. Two, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Grant Wood’s home town, displayed a bunch of manikin statues based on Wood’s _American Gothic_–the sour looking couple, him holding a pitchfork, standing in front of a house with a gothic arch window–itself a parody of Northern/Flemish Renaissance paintings. When the display was done the individual couples were sold to the public as a fund raiser for public art. ---

Read through the entire thread, hoping to be the first to mention Wood’s sister, dentist ,and pitchfork, but nooo… The sad thing is that the house is an hour trip from here and I’ve never been there. I should drive over on Monday. I bet it’ll be busy. ---
