Does anyone else ‘hear’ the thread title in James Brown’s voice? The OP is an illiterate numbskull, but if “Jump on it, Dopers!” becomes a thing, maybe this will have been worth it.

The IRS should not ever consider denying tax exempt status to organizations whose avowed purpose is to not ever pay any taxes.

Kind of a weak pitting, isn’t it?
It’s just “Topic meant to be inflammatory” with a side of “please do all the legwork for me” by a mentally challenged individual.

This must be like the fifteenth “Obama’s Watergate” I’ve heard of from the right so far. Clearly Obama is the greatest politician in American history if he’s capable of being so blatantly evil so often and yet come off scot-free over and over again.

I get that they shouldn’t have done it, no question. But I think I can see a rationale for it: we’re in a period of loosening rules on political advocacy, and the line between tax-exempt advocacy groups and non-tax-exempt political advocacy groups seems to be blurring. The Tea Party gave themselves a name that sure sounds like a political advocacy group–“party” in politics usually means political party, and political parties are not tax exempt to the best of my knowledge. So increased scrutiny on groups with Tea Party in their names makes sense to me.
Groups with “Patriot” in their name? I’d want to know how they thought that was a good idea.

Remember Dick Armey and the Tea Party Express? Wasn’t it amazing how this grassroots organization just sprang up out of nowhere, yet when they held rallies, all the professional gear, all the microphones and loudspeakers and crew, and stage managers, just sprang up out of thin air? Kind of like Occupy but with a buttload of money and professional cynics. Who’s kidding who, here?
I may be the only one who remembers how the Tea Party Express announced that the Tea Party was solidly behind Verizon/Comcast during their difficulties. Who the _fuck_ loves the cable company? Tell me, who?
Its all about the bogus rules for political organizations which are not political organizations, no, really, we’re not. So we don’t have to tell anybody where the money comes from, because hey! It all comes from individual patriotic Americans who are fed up with the way the gummint…
Bullshit on a cracker. If Karl Roves Crossroads super pac isn’t a political organization, and therefore is exempt from revealing sources of income, then I am the Queen of Romania.
