# Is 2018 the Year of Women?

I’ve read quite a few articles about 2018 being “The Year of Women” in politics. If nothing else Trump seems to have inspired a number of women to get more active politically, including running for office. Now it’s a friend of mine!

Valerie is an ([accomplished](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valerie_Horsley)) [scientist](https://horsley.yale.edu/) and she got fed up enough to try to do [something](http://valerieforct.com) about it.

While it’s an uphill battle for her, it certainly seems that she is catching a rising tide. And dammit, at least she’s trying.

Is anybody else seeing this trend locally/personally?

I can’t say I know any women who are running, but many are becoming more activist. (Of course, there aren’t many Republican women whom I interact with regularly outside of work, because I don’t like or approve of their dogma.)
