Just in case it wasn’t clear, Lissa, I was being sarcastic.

Sorry I misunderstood you. It’s so hard to tell sometimes when it’s just the written word.

The Founding Fathers were avoiding responsibility? I thought the Tea Party was an act of revolt that the members knew could/would have painful consequences for them yet they chose the more difficult route.

So why isn’t deciding not to have a child one cannot support or care for the same thing?

Huh…it appeared from the posts that you and Lissa were making…

…that you were making comments about more than **just one** pregnancy crisis center, in one city. Hence I listed the pregnancy crisis center with the most affiliates.

Great…I’ll be sure to pass on **your** criteria for “legitimacy” to them…(which of course has nothing to do with the claims that I was responding to with my post)

Go ahead, like I said, the TV Show “W5” already had them on, and debunked them liars!!

“Them” on? Do you mean one or two crisis pregnancy centers? 'Cuz I find it hard to believe that they could have covered thousands of CPCs – or even a representative sampling thereof – in the course of a single program.

And can you corroborate your claim? While I’m fully aware that SOME CPCs have been accused of such dishonesty, I also know that the Care Net and Birthright networks have strict policies against such matters. I’d also like to verify that your recollections of the program are accurate, as I’ve often seen people blow such claims way out of proportion (e.g. people claiming that pro-lifers condone abortion clinic bombing, based on a few isolated testimonies that they saw on TV).

, they covered the pregnancy care center in my very city. W5 Sent someone in who said they were pregnant. They caught the whole thing on tape, and they asked a lot of questions. I don’t know about other ‘clinics’, but I know this one is horribly biased and uses stats that aren’t true.

Wow. One clinic in Canada was “caught on tape” acting inappropriately.

If one were to find one unprofessional abortion provider in Canada or the states…that would mean what?

If I were to rant and rave about the unprofessionalism of that one abortion provider…and suggest that it has meaning beyond that **one** clinic, I think you could measure the response time, from pro choice folks, to that post in nano seconds. And rightly so.

So. Are you really making this fuss over one friggin clinic…or are you suggesting (like I think Lissa is) that it’s pretty standard fare for pregnancy crisis centers to not provide the services you mentioned?

If the former…mountain–meet molehill.

If the latter…see my earlier post re: Birthright.

It seems to me, that pro-lifers try to polarise abortion.

Either it’s an easy out, backing out of responsibility to live a carefree life as a callous hussy.

Or, it’s a terrible damaging thing that will destroy you mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

The truth is, as always, in the grey area in between.

Sometimes it will be the best choice from a list of bad choices. The lesser of the evils.
And only the one who bears the physical burden, as well as the emotional ones shared by any concerned others, can weigh up all of the options and decide what is best, for her, for her family, for her future.
(Slight niggle about the CPCs.
If you use scare tactics, misinformation, and emotional blackmail to push a pro-life agenda, AND THEN supply food, nappies and child care, does that make it ok?
I don’t accept that it does.)

I wasn’t trying to suggest that all crisis centers are the same way as the one in my town. (That’s the only one I have with which I have experience [albeit second-hand], and it would be pretty unfair of me to accuse them all of being the same when I have no evidence to support it.)

I travel a lot, and I do see ads for them frequently. However, I’ve never taken advantage of any of their services, and can’t comment on what kinds of places they are. I was only meaning to say that many cities, large and small, seem to have them.

When I made the comment about all that’s needed to set one up is a meeting place and a phone line, I wasn’t trying to imply that they’re “crooked.” Just that a lot of places, or so I’ve heard are poorly funded and run by volunteers. (That in of itself isn’t bad. I’m sure that the majority have good intentions.)

I am sorry if I gave the wrong impression.
