GAs do not affect me too much in terms of tiredness (or at least the 2 I’ve had haven’t). I had a GA 2 weeks ago- only a short one though (I was in theatre for maybe 15 mins).

Perfect recall of all events up to the anaesthetist saying “I’m going to give you some Fentanyl- you should feel relaxed” and me thinking “Bollocks, it’s not working…oooh nice fluffy feeling…” at 1145, and then waking up at 1210, feeling a bit crampy and getting some codeine, then eating tea and toast with marmalade, reading a little _Owen Meaney_, then going home at 1300. I was well enough to go to the supermarket with my mum and my daughter that afternoon.

The other time I got Propofol, and I recall a nasty taste like onion in my mouth and counting backwards from 100 for the Anaesthetist, then waking up, asking for pain relief, getting some IV morphine, and then finishing _American Gods_ while I waited for my husband to come and pick me up.

I don’t think it counts a restful sleep, but it wasn’t tiring either, and I was functional afterwards, even with the narcotics on board.
