Driving around the last week or so, I kept seeing port-a-potties everywhere. Lines and lines of 'em. Couldn’t figure it out. Then saw the bleachers… Oh, yeah. Rose Parade. And unlike last year, today’s beautiful – crisp and clear. But I haven’t turned on the parade. Maybe later. It’s on all day, so no rush. ---

I’m not watching, because parades on TV are lame. I don’t need to hear a running commentary about every single detail about every single float. I _go_ to parades when I can, because I like to see the floats and hear the marching bands, but I just don’t enjoy them on TV. ---

Even as a child I never was facinated by parades. So, yes I am not watching. ---

The first and last time I saw the Rose Parade was back in about 1968, when my SoCal girlfriend dragged me down there to spend the night sleeping in the street so we’d have a good spot. I was underwhelmed (by the parade, not the GF). ---

I haven’t watched the Rose Parade in ages and if it’s become anything Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, then I won’t be watching it anytime soon. I want to see floats and clowns and fancy costumes and marching bands. I don’t want to spend 95% of the time listening to the latest boy and/or girl bands sing something bland but family friendly. What a way to turn something fun into a snoozefest, parade organizers! ---

I can’t remember the last time I saw any of a parade on TV - probably Thanksgiving when I was a little kid. Even then, I hated the lip-synched performances on the street. A parade is about keeping it moving, dagnabbit!!! ---

George Lucas was the Grand Marshall. And there was a Star Wars float. Complete with Ewoks. And Darth Vader and Stormtroopers were there. What year is it again? (won’t someone please let the star wars crap RIP) ---

Count me in among those who read the thread title, and thought, “What parade?” Besides which, there’s no antenna or cable or other device hooked up to our TV, so we’d have to go to someone else’s house to watch a parade we weren’t aware was going on. So, no. ---

Parades make my eyes glaze over. Nope, I never even considered watching it, and didn’t even know it was happening. I knew _about_ the Rose Parade, having been dragged there to watch as a child a few times, but I couldn’t have told you when it was without googling for it. ---

I saw this thread and thought: \*“Why the heck not?” \* There were some pretty cool floats this year. I really liked the fire-breathing dragons. The Rocketman flight was a kick, too. Oh, and it was nice to see James Garner is still alive and kicking(?). The commentary was extremely lame, though…no surprise there. ---

I’ve never actively sat down and watched the parade. This year was no exception. But my brother told me about a marching band that got to dress up as Star Wars characters, and I just watched that clip (Grambling band + 501st Legion Storm Troopers) and am wondering why the parade was in the dark. I thought the Rose Bowl parade was like at noon or something. What gives? ---

**Zipper** : The Tournament of Roses parade started at 8am and then went into reruns. **Der Trihs** : Same here. First I’d glaze, then I’d doze. For the life of me, I will never understand how people can camp out on the cold sidewalks for 2 to 3 days in advance so they can watch the blasted thing in person.
