But I was reading some ancient (1999) ATMBs, and some guy kept “getting a new mail account” and signing in under a new name after he was banned. [cite if necessary; some asshole who re-signed in as “Adolf Hitler.”
This is also what we’re talking about–is it?–, although I’m not sure it has a cutesy name. But maybe that was possible then. I think the mod techno dazzle is equipped for that now.
I’m occasionally confused when I see “bolding mine” (or “bolding in original”) and I have to squint to see what exactly was bolded because the bold face doesn’t look terribly different than the normal typeface, such as seems to be the case with the italic typeface used here in quotes. And I generally have pretty good attention for detail.
That’s called socking (or sock puppeting), and we’ve had lots and lots of those, too many to count. We’re better at catching it now, but it still sometimes takes a little while. Especially if the new account doesn’t catch our attention-- So if you think that someone is a sock, contact a mod and let us know, because you just might be right.
Fortunately, I :smack: realized what “bolding mine” meant, just before clicking the Google search button to find out how many bolding mines there are in the US and Canada.
If you are using windows, you might want to make sure yoh have cleartext on, or if it is, run through the configuration choices again. One of the things configuring it does is set the weight of regular vs bold fonts.
If you are using an Apple device, I have no idea other than maybe check your contrast and brightness settings. On my iPad and PC bolded text is very clearly bolded.
I don’t think there is an actual color called “grape”, or at least, if there is, it’s not recognized by Firefox, and it’s not a light greenish blue. If I’m not mistaken, that’s just color 00a0e0, which is Firefox’s best attempt at turning the word “grape” into something that it can interpret as a color.
There’s a defined color called grape. There’s a hex equivalent. I don’t use firefox, and just assumed that vBulletin converts the color in the tag to a hex equivalent.
That is a great idea, and I wish new posters would read it.
In fact, when I get appointed Scoutmaster here, I’ll require that all new posters need to lurk for three weeks (and read a hundred threads) before they post. Oh, and click on “real news” sources at least once a week, learn to Google, and read Bone’s list.
