A few of those horrendous food hygiene cases landed up in the prison where I work. I got the impression from the offenders that they are only a very small tip of the iceberg.
Their practice was to purchase chicken that was unfit for human consumption - hence the extremely low price to buy and rinse it out in chlorinated solution - no standards of dosing whatsoever. They would simply tip out trailers full of this material on the floor of their industrial unit and shovel the stuff into tubs full of well used solution, then package it up again and send it off to all the major outlets.
There is totally no doubt that they were the grossest polluters of the UK food chain in the last 50 years, its certain that unnamed persons have died as a result of the infections they caused.
They had the nerve to complain about the food in our prison.
