Conservatism seems to be built on a deep psychological belief that there is a “natural order to things”. Men are men. Women are women. Each has their strengths and weaknesses and particular roles in society. Now in practice it’s not a hard and fast rule, as there are obviously prominent conservative women in business and politics. But generally they express those values.
Conservatism also seems rooted in perceptions of “strength” and “order”. Military strength. Economic strength. Rule of law. Strong family values. A well defined American culture with Christian values.
So in that context, men are expected to be strong, with strong opinions on conservative values.
