# Is correspondence of mole/blemish locations between family members coincidence or genetics?

I have a few small moles on my arms and the pattern closely matches the pattern of moles my mother and daughter have. Two near the wrist, one at the base of the thumb, etc.

Are moles locations random or is there a genetic component? I’m a guy if that’s relevant.
