It is the sound of the air being disturbed. Basically, it means you missed whatever came your way. Typically, it means a comment went over your head. And it is not specific to the SDMB. ---

You know, **Marley** , I just felt the brush of the angels of warn over my head. I was kidding, although you answered me seriously, i thougt, “OK, he didn’t see I was joking, or maybe he needed to be clear if somebody _else_ didn’t see I was joking.” So I didn’t pull a whoosh (the SD version of “psyche!”) or keep it up. Despite all, at the end of the day, my motto is “don’t fuck with a mod when hes modding” and it seems to be working out ok so far. Am I now pissing you off by being a royal kiss-ass? I can’t win. This place gives me the creeps. :eek: \ ---

That’s a little bossy and, in this case, unnecessary. But after giving it a little thought, I came to a “who cares?” point of view. He’s not a mod, but perhaps it makes him feel better about himself. Just give him “all the respect that is due.” ---

For a while I was concerned people might actually believe this, but it seems like nobody does and it’s not worth worrying about. So in the future I won’t treat it seriously if it comes up. ---
