Errrr, I mean… I dont make a habit out of it, but in the past on other boards, I have occassionally, while drunk, decided to share with the world my masterful command of the English language. Penis ensues. Are people very uptight about this here? I’ve been lurking for a god-awful long time, and I honestly cant recall many inebriated posters except maybe **Otto**. So…? -Autolycus ---

Drunk threads tend to get shut down fairly quickly around here. Of course, you’re _allowed_ to post while drunk; they have no way to tell unless you admit to it. But, if you’re drunk enough, it’s self evident, anyway. ---

Yes, I think that sums it up nicely. Also, the PTB would likely wish to discourage drunken posting, since your inhibitions are weakened and you might say (well, type) things you wouldn’t otherwise. I, for one, would strongly urge you to at least consider your post very carefully before clicking submit, for this very reason. Just a bit of friendly advice. IANAM, etc. ---

Also remember: You **are** responsible for anything you might happen to post while drunk. I remember at least one member who was a perfectly fellow while sober, but who ended up banned after one drunken thread too many. ---

From the Moderator perspective: we certainly don’t want to try to monitor a poster’s state of mind (drunk, high, off meds, euphoric, schizoid, whatever) when they are posting. We do hold people responsible for what they post, and they must bear the consequences after. Our goal is to build community, and that means that people know each other (at least, as well as one can online) and hold each other accountable for what they say/post. We’re not going to close down a thread merely because the poster was on her second bottle of champagne; we will however hold people to the same standards we would under any circumstances, and close threads, warn misbehaviors, and take stern action for severe or repeated misbehaviors. In short, “I’m sorry, your Moderatorship, but I was drunk when I posted that” is an explanation but not an excuse. ---

Anyone who lets their paid membership laps now (or who chose not to pay when the board went from free to paid) shows up now as a guest. Homer had over 3k posts to the board and was one of the originial '99ers. ---
