# Is Elder Scrolls IV a stand alone game?

Also, the only mods I would recommend installing before you even start the game is the [Unofficial Oblivion Patch](http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=5296) (fixes a ton of quest bugs and other annoyances) and [BTMod](http://btmod.beider.org/) (the default UI is just so terrible, this mod fixes a lot of it.)
