I hope this link works. If not, help is greatly appreciated!

I mean this mostly as a joke, since it is likely only coincidence (rather than synchronicity) that the update on Newman - - so short after Hurricane Katrina - - is likely only happenstance:

Newman, who once ran for president on God’s instructions, angrily declared that this shabby treatment was going to get God really PO’ed. “I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if this does not result that God will place misery upon the state of Mississippi… I can see the handwriting on the wall and the people of Mississippi had better wake up.”

I mean… retribution took ten years - but it got there, right?

God has said wierder and apparently done wierder in Biblical times, so there is nothing to actually disprove that this was an Act of God. Except for common sense maybe, but who needs that…

My best theory on the matter is that this was a disturbed man who could predict the future, but became overwhelmed with greed and lust and the gold-bug, and ruined his own future, while still seeing the ruin of others’ futures.

According to the Baptists (and other various denominations), we have more problems than this in Mississippi regarding God’s wrath. Our legislature just OK’d letting casino’s rebuild 800 ft from the water’s edge, instead of right on the water. It seems that floating casinos are not sinful, but those just near the water are sinful. [sup] **Go Figure!** [/sup]

Predicting a hurricane in Mississippi is about as amazing as predicting snowstorms in Chicago. :dubious:

For God to pick on Mississippi would be like picking on a homeless man who just got hit by a truck.

Why kick a state that is already down and out when California is just begging for a whoopin? 😉

The Hurricane(s) cannot possibly be God’s wrath on Mississippi. If God is angry at someone, then it must be the entire Gulf Coast. This is not impossible, but there are too many good people around here. Maybe it was just a couple of Hurricane’s and that Newman guy is just a crackpot.

My post was only meant in a “light-hearted” manner w/ respect to the classic column from Cecil; at least, as “light-hearted” as one can be in regards to the terrible suffering and property damage recently experienced by folks in both Mississippi & Louisana (sp?).

Come on everybody, this is 2005. Can’t we get past all the silly superstition and belief in things that don’t exist? For the last time,

> The 100-lb Newman Energy Machine contained a 70-lb coil with a rotor that operated at HIGH RPMS with only MINUTE SPARKING as a result of the back-emf produced by the machine while it operates. The energy machine operated on a low voltage of only 30 volts consisting of five 6-volt batteries each comprised of four 1.5 volt battery units – with a current equivalent to that of any one of those 1.5 volt battery units.

When I saw the mannerisms of those two individuals towards my presentation and heard their sarcastically-toned “forked” tongues, I became enraged. I was enraged for all humanity and for all creative minds that have ever been subjected to such insensitive and uncaring attitudes.

They have simply memorized the great contributions of important scientific innovators of the past and can quote those contributions like a parrot. Yet at the same time, they have absolutely no true understanding and especially curiosity regarding the subjects they quote.

If a lot of folks believe in a god, then it will attract that god. That is why Mississippi is taking such a hammering, wereas much more relatively godless areas do not attract such a god, and therefore do not have to suffer such god caused disasters.
