Is iPad 3 worth buying?

I have the camera kit, it’s two dongles (one that’s a SD reader and one that’s a USB plug) they import photos into iPhoto.

I have pre-ordered the new iPad and am [im]patiently awaiting its delivery. I’ve never had one before but I’ve seen people taking photos with them and always felt it looked very awkward and don’t expect to use that facility at all. In the absence of an SD card slot or a USB drive, how do you get your photos off the camera and onto the iPad?

Sorry, that’s probably a dumb question but I can easily get my photos onto my computer and am wondering about the iPad when it finally arrives.

When you implore people to use the search function, you should do so yourself. There hasn’t been a single iPad 3 thread on the boards, ever. And in the last month, there have been a grand total of 2 threads started about iPads (both in GQ asking specific questions). The last 7 iPad threads in IMHO all took place in 2011 - one in December, one in November, two in October, one in July and two in June.

Maybe you were talking about a different search function. If so, I sincerely apologize.

7 threads in IMHO in the last 8 months? Sounds like plenty of threads to choose from to me. You think there is alot of utility difference between the iPad 2 and the iPad 3? No. The screen is different and the camera no one uses is also better otherwise it’s the same so the other threads and thousands of web pages discussing this very topic are probably adequate.

Clearly the OP is asking if an iPad in general is “worthless crap”. He’s pretty interested too because he hasn’t been back since dropping a drive-by OP turd.

Thanks but that tells me how to import photos from a device to my computer. I want to import photos from my camera to my iPad (when it arrives). I’m sure there’s a way.

Note that not one person in this thread said they use their iPad as a camera. There’s a reason for that. A 10" thingamajig makes for a really awkward camera. If that’s your only reason for upgrading I’d think on it. That said, it’s really nice for *diplaying *photos. I’ve used mine a fair amount to show off vacation and family pictures.

I use the camera function for taking pictures of checks for deposit (my credit union has a mobile app for that) and for scanning QR codes, but that’s about it for the camera. I don’t exactly need a great camera function for that.

It is great for displaying photos, and my friends who have portfolios to show off (painters, photographers, etc.) are all eager to get the latest version.

One method is the one Unintentionally Blank mentioned - buying Apple’s Camera Kit.

The other method is to copy the pictures over from your computer through iTunes:

I know that photos you take using your iOS device can be backed up to your computer using iCloud. I don’t know if you can copy your own files to iCloud to copy to your device.

One thing I use my tablet for is amusing my toddler. Judging from the 62,500,000+ hits on YouTube for “Elmo’s Song” (no hyperbole), I’m not unique.
