Remember the original complaint was about people posting things like f\*\*k. I am free to browse most websites while I work without trying to put one over on anyone. A few sites are blocked, mostly social networking sites and band-width hogs. What I do need to be careful of is what I type, not what I read. Many companies have key-stroke recording software that is awakened by keywords, usually profanity, sexually-oriented words, and racial epithets. This may be installed for any number of reasons, but one of them is certainly what **Yllaria** said, the company has an interest in what goes out from its systems. Triggering this software would attract attention I don’t want, and the care I take to avoid awaking it in no way impinges on what you post here. Others may complain about that, but that was not the subject being discussed. In addition, many who work in office environments get used to a huge range of filters on email servers which can prevent delivery of emails to friends at work. It becomes easier to bowdlerize in advance than to play email filter roulette, and it becomes a habit. ---

I see. I mistook it as a complaint about cursing. That makes sense. Although - who exactly would be checking what curse words are being typed from a particular company? I’d think most of a company’s customers wouldn’t be in a position/have the technology to check such things. Or is it more a corporate espionage issue? ---

The last six or seven replies to this thread have been enough to make me spit out my drink all over the keyboard and almost choke on my sandwich…oh man, you all are too much. Wheew. Haven’t laughed like that in awhile. This is why I love this place. ---
