Honest to God, I was standing around at work today, thinking “I ought to start a Real Genius appreciation thread on the SDMB.” It somewhat disturbs me that **Solomon7t** can apparently read my mind, but not nearly as much as the fact that I spend my time at work thinking about this board, and not about things like, “Try not to get your fingers caught in that end mill you’re working with.” Anyway, Real Genius is a wonderful, wonderful movie. The Socrates quote is my all time favorite, but I also love: “What kind of person puts his name on his liscense plate?” “My mom does that with my underwear.” “Your mom puts liscence plates in your underwear? How do you sit?” “I was hot, and I was hungry!” “How do these look?” “Terrible! Mine looks like him and his looks like me.” The apple. It’s already been said, but I gotta say it again: “And Kent… Stop playing with yourself.” “It is Jesus.” “Taste this.” “What is it?” “I don’t know. I found it in one of the labs.” ---

To this day I STILL use the following when I am fiddling around with something and someone comes up and asks me “What is that?” “This? This is a penis stretcher. Want to try it?” If its a girl…I substitute nipple. I crack myself up ---

I have to say that one reason the film holds up well is because of the soundtrack. I don’t usually go for this style of 80s music but it works, and held up well over time. ---

oops, hit submit instead of reply. Anyway, we’d have to buy dry ice in slabs, which would cost a fortune, no way to freeze it in place. A-ha! Chip or grind the dry ice and mix it with cold water, then spread it like slush before it has a chance to freeze solid. As the dry ice sublimates it will leave behind a porous layer of ice. When the surface gets too rough, mix and spread another layer of slush! Voila! When I geek out like that I blame it on Real Genius. ---

Admittedly, 80’s teen comedies were not one of the great film genres, but _Real Genius_ was an enjoyable film. I liked it, it holds up, and I probably would pick up a copy on DVD. ---
