…is there an unusually high number of very recent registrants posting strange or provocative things?

I’m relatively new here, so maybe this just happens in random waves?

Actually, what you’re noticing has been higher in the past. We have a few new wrinkles in our spam fighting defenses that have reduced incidences this year.

I’m gonna attribute it to you noticing a high number in a short period lately. Ebb and flow. Selective memory.

Proverbially, we get an upswing in dumb posters around major school holidays, but I don’t know that there’s any factual basis to the observation.
