There are traffic court cases here in RI where you can request a jury trial, but I don’t know what the threshold for that is. I’ve certainly never heard of it for something along the lines of speeding or crossing a line. The only case I know of for sure is one where the testimony of a police officer was disputed, and I don’t recall the charge.
