Is it just me or are you folks needlessly verbose? I have to say, as a newb I’m finding it such a turn off to have to slog through so much faux intellectual posturing to get to the point. Is this how this place rolls? (Please be gentle. I’m new 🙂 ) ---

I’m fairly new too, but that’s kind of the charm of the place. This, coming from someone who has spent time on mostly female message boards (all snark, no blurf) and places like memebase and 9gag. It’s like going out into the adult world after spending time with kids all day, every day for years. ---

It’s you. Many posts here are short & to the point. Others can be quite long–either packed with interesting information or stuffed with idiotic drivel. I can tell the difference. So I skip the crap–or answer back if I’m up to it. And enjoy the good stuff. Learn to play along if you want to stay. Or don’t. ---

The really good questions, like “Attack Syria?” or “Is God Omnipotent?” or “Gun Control?” or just “Country Time Lemonade?” aren’t answerable in really short posts. They aren’t even addressable in very short posts. Some of these questions really require entire books to be written, and other books to be written in rebuttal. Brevity may be the soul of wit (and underwear) but it’s hard to talk about really meaty philosophical subjects and to keep it under 500 words. ---
