# Is it okay to Pit a company?

I’ve got a mild mad at XYZ corporation, big providers of XYZ service, and would like to Pit them. What I want to say is true, so they couldn’t sue me… Except, of course, anyone can sue anyone, any time, for anything… Are there SDMB rules against naming specific companies’ names in Pits? Is it just generally a bad idea anyway? Should I maybe just never mind?

Oh, well… I’m mad at XYZ (fictional name) corporation. Phooey on 'em.

Considering the things people on here say about certain companies (just for instance Fox News) I would WAG that it’s allowed.

We’ve had recent Pit threads on BP, Home Depot, Hyatt Hotels, and other large companies. I don’t see any reason such a thread wouldn’t be allowed, unless perhaps you were divulging confidential information.

Sure. We don’t have a rule against pitting companies.

That said, the Pit rules do say:

In some cases, we might edit a post that complains about a company, but provides what we think is too much information about a specific individual.
