Would it be possible to assemble a massive army of BBQ-ers(or whatever you call it) and take over a few of the boards? Frankly, some of the moderators (read-manhattan in the GQ) are pissing me off. That guy 1746 had a very legitimate cause for saving his NYC bus. He even asked a question in the post, but manhattan came along with his heavy handed Nazi-style ruling of the GQ and struck down the post. The SDMB should be a place of open exchange of ideas and ideals, but manhattan is taking that away from us. If it can’t be an arena of enlightenment, I say we make it a field of chaos and bloodshed. Only problem is, I don’t know how to do it. Plus, I’m lazy. On top of that, It’s really not that important to me. (man, I’ve got charisma) So, uh, who’s with me? ---

Quit’cher bellyachin’ That thread is just downright weird, and had no business in GQ–at least as written. I also think you’re probably pretty much alone here–Manhattan does a pretty damn good job. 1746, or whoever, is free to rewrite that as either a real GQ, or MPSIMS, and repost it. Now don’t come here bitchin about the mods less’n you know what your talking about… ---

Implying that anyone is Nazi-like in their behaviour won’t get you much farther than the door. I went and read the post you referred to, there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with it and it was a question. You would have to ask the mod why it was closed. I have no idea. ---

You flipping capital IDI idiot. That thread had no business being in GQ. Hell, I don’t know where it should have gone. The emphasis is on answering specific, one-answer questions in GQ. The only question I found in that whole post was “will you do it?” That is more of a matter of opinion. It should have gone in IMHO. If it were “should the state allocate more money to public transportation than road mantinence”, it could have gone in GD. If you were talking about a crappy day on the bus, or how to deal with a long bus ride, it should have gone in MPSIMS. Besides, Manny is a damn fine mod, and I would be hard-pressed to find someone as fair as him. On mutinies, there are 8,000 of us, and one of you. Go ahead and try. ---

Well, please correct me if I’m wrong, but the board is owned, financed, and operated by The Chicago Reader. They are under no obligation to make the board conform to what any particular user wants it to be. The mods have been given the authority to keep things under control. That authority includes closing threads. The thread probably did not belong in GQ. Maybe it should have been moved to MPSIMS or GD, but who knows. And, as a general rule, people have been trying to take over this message board ever since the original “good” software on AOL, with results that could only be described as “disappointing” for the revolutionaries. You may do what you want as far as trying to take over, but be prepared for an old-fashioned ass, ass, ass-whuppin’. Life is unfair. Get a helmet. ---

alright, I’m a candy-ass pansie(not really). But this manhattan fellow seems to have a pretty strong base. I guess that means he’s a good guy. So uh… I hereby officially retract my call for a mutiny until there’s a **real** reason for one. But you know, I must have misunderstood the purpose of the **pit**. I assumed it was a place where i could let my jerkism run rampant. You learn something new every day though. I’ll get the hang of it. ---

Well, in defense of steeljaw, the bus thread was not bad or anything, and I can understand why steeljaw is confused. The Mods are all very difference, and Manny allows less "foolishness’ in his baliwick than most of the other moderators. However, in defense of mannie, that thread certainly did not belong in QG.
