# Is it possible to swallow a lit cigarette, then take it out and resume smoking?

Magician Tom Mullica made this his speciality, doing this with multiple cigarettes at a time. It was impressive but gruesome to watch. In a recent television interview he said he had to quit for health reasons, but reckons that over his career he’d swallowed (actually swallowed and not regurgitated in any manner) about a quarter of a million cigarettes. Yowza.

He also said he could never really practice his act by himself, as having an audience watch him helped him to overcome the pain of having several lit cigarettes burning his mouth. I repeat: yowza.
