Is it psysiologically possible to eliminate or switch hand dominance?

My mother was born a lefty (and passed it on to me). In Japan she was forced to learn everything right-handed. She said she learned to play tennis and ping-pong, but never learned a back-hand return because she would just switch hands and smack the ball fore-handed.

I play ping pong the same way - it can really mess with people. Tons of fun. And yes, I write left handed. I do most other things right handed though.
