Several of the links I posted have comparison pictures of both. I think [this one](http://www.fs.fed.us/ipnf/visit/brochures/bears/) is the best.

For mountain lions, a rule of thumb is that if you see one, it has been observing you for some time. They are incredibly stealthy, and humans are unlikely to spot them unless they want to be seen. Besides the usual precautions, fighting back is recommended in the event of an attack. Stay on your feet as they attack the head and neck, hoping for a quick kill.

There are regular, but infrequent encounters with mountain lions by hikers in Colorado. One thing always mentioned in news reports about them is to NEVER turn your back on the lion and never run. Those activities trigger their attacks. If you act like prey, they will treat you as prey. Make yourself as large as you can, always face them, and slowly back away.

That’s my choise when backpacking in grizzly country. OTOH, I never even seen one, despite being incountry numerous times. I must be paranoid.

In other words, just stay out of the woods entirely.

I think the key word in that report is “at” as opposed to “in” I am quite comfortable with the assertion that to living land animal could function with six .454 Casull rounds in it. I think you would be to if you ever shot one. Keep in mind that the muzzle energy of a .454 is about twice a .44.

OTOH, I am not sure I could hit a grizzly six times before it got to me, seeing I have to shoot single action to hit anything at any significant distance.

Duh!

The kid shoots and kills a cub, drops his gun (a high power rifle) and runs from the sow (cubs mother), then his associate drops HIS rifle and shots at the sow with his pistol! I guess we should have seen this coming when it started with the kid shooting the cub. This is why idiots should not be allowed to have guns. The bear was simply trying to improve the gene pool.

I guess this response does not belong in GQ, sorry.
