No, Republican claims that “swimming” is a liberal conspiracy and insists they both use a “faith-based floating” technique instead.

Depends on how you classify “political violence”. If we include the significant increase in hate crimes (which I think is reasonable), then I think it’s the opposite.

I think it’s fair to consider hate crimes to be political violence, I just don’t know that you can assign blame to a particular ideology. Is it possible that the 22% of offenders who are African-American are black Republicans? Sure. Unlikely though. It’s just as unlikely that the 52% of offenders who are white are overwhelmingly Republican

That’s pre-Trump hate crime stats… but even so, they don’t challenge the notion that more hate crimes come from the right than from the left.

But I don’t assign blame to “the right” in general – just to those advocating, or ignoring, or excusing, hateful rhetoric and actions.

You guys are missing the point- Trump’s racism just wasn’t the biggest deal to most of the people who voted for him.

It’s not like they necessarily are FOR that racism; it’s very similar to **Damuri Ajashi’s comments about pro-lifers who voted for Hillary, except in the opposite direction. They chose Trump for reasons that they felt were more important than racism and sexism, just like Damuri Ajashi’s** pro-lifers chose Hillary over issues they felt were more important than abortion.

There seems to be a massive degree of hurting butt on the Left that a relatively large portion of the country’s citizenry don’t completely agree with them on the subject of racism and sexism being the #1 sin.

That doesn’t mean that they don’t consider it a sin, but that it’s not the chief one.

I’ll even use myself as an example; I voted for Hillary because I think Trump is liable to damage our economy, get us involved in international shenanigans we don’t need, and do our national reputation a lot of harm. Racism wasn’t in it- I don’t like it, but that wasn’t why I voted for Hillary. If Hillary had promised to be just as bad on all the points I mentioned, then maybe racism might have been a consideration, but as it stood, it was way down on the priority list.

And I voted for the “right” person in most of your eyes.

Alright, we get it, people voted for Trump in spite of his support of racism, Islamophobia, homophobia, sexism, and overall bigotry. They voted for him in spite of his inexperience. They voted for him in spite of his incompetence. They voted for him in spite of his lies. They voted for him in spite of his documented treatment of women.

I can see why someone would vote for someone in spite of something they said or did or stand for, but I have yet to hear anyone give a reason to actually vote for trump, except the not-hillary crowd, who did the exact type of lumping that you accuse those who are turned off by everything that Trump has said and done.

You say they chose trump for reasons more important than racism or sexism, can you tell me what those reasons were?

Slavery Jim Crow and genocide were the examples that you used. Do you think these things are even remotely possible that you would throw them on the scale on your side of the argument for how we should act going forward?

> I think sundown towns still exist (Vidor, TX is one such place that I drove through regularly in the early 2000s), and more, and many more could pop up pretty easily if the inhabitants of many all-white small towns decide that it’s okay again to do so. Red-lining is pretty easy to see coming back – favorable loans and other business/financial incentives provided to white areas of town, but not black areas, though crafted legislatively with creative language to seem non-racist. And much, much more. Even relative low-grade racism like sundown towns and red-lining are abominable and monstrous, and far, far worse than anything corruption has caused in the US.

I think we disagree on how bad corruption can be. In another thread, we are discussing controversial police shootings and I think that the biggest problem that cannot be easily addressed is not the racism that might be the root of these police shootings but the corruption that covers up for these bad cops.

The point you butthurt dems continue to willfully ignore is the fact that these so-called “Trumpisms” really only exist in the campaign-fueled, dirt-digging bullshit rhetoric your bitch and her minions stirred up over the past months. They are not real. They are paranoia-induced fantasies.

I have been looking for someone who voted for Trump who could explain what they voted for. Did you believe him that he would bring back jobs, that he would build a wall, that he would lock up hillary?

I’ve been trying to rub the noses of those who insisted it was Hillary’s turn in the election results but they keep insisting that it was racism.

Ryan is a lot more fiscal and less social conservative. He would trade a balanced budget amendment and lower taxes for the overturn of Roe v Wade. Pence has probably already read the briefs for the hypothetical case challenging Roe v. Wade and has a spread sheets with actuarial probabilities to tell him how many justices are going to die in the next 4 to 8 years and who would be best to replace them before the hypothetical challenge to Roe.

Trump has no political allies and I don’t know how predictable he will be.

You think Hillary lost this election because people who vote Republican year in and year out, voted Republican again in 2016? You know, we’ve had a Democrat in the white house for 8 years, right? You ever stop and think that maybe some people that voted for Obama last time voted for Trump this time?
