**gonzomax** , do you have a suggestion for a better way to address the problem of global warming?
Please, don’t say conservation. We just don’t do that.

Yes automobiles can be fixed easily. The behemoths people drive are unneccary. ALMOST ALL THE TIME. I know someone will say I need mine.,but we drive mostly one to a vehicle. I see families wuth 3 suvs and a van in their driveways. We are responible for our own part of the earth. There are alternate forms of energy but we have to overcome a lot to get them started. Mostly the entrenchment of oil. As an asude the blackouts were caused by the power companies destroying unions, removing workers on a large scale basis to increase stocks and make huge salaries for the management.
if you can insulate the home. We bought new windows and they save a lot.
Windmills .solar energy are all feasable. They wont get good press.

As I remember from a TV program, there was loss of coolant forom a stuck valve, the valve lacked a position sensor and the outlet temp was ignored because the valve had a history of leaking. Also this occured on third shift and wasn’t corrected until first shift arrived and closed the backup valve. One of the reactor safety improvements was brighter lighting in control rooms, this improves alertness during night shifts.

Aren’t power plants today essentially computer controlled? A computer can monitor hundreds of temperature sensors, pressure sensors, valves, etc., faster and more accurately than any human can. So I suspect that atleast one of the “problems” of nuclear power plants has an easy solution-run them via automatic controls! Chernobyl happened partly because of incredibly bad human decision-making; a computer would never make such a mistake.

That could be. I’ll see him on Wensday and ask if he remembers any more. I did hit him up about this subject totatlly out of the blue while he was on vacation (is it a vacation if you are retired?) If I get anymore info I’ll post it.
