Is It Time to Impeach Bush for Incompetence?

I’m not saying acquiesce but I have a few friends who were basically called traitors to their face who now expect an apology from the world.

One more thing, just because you were right about Bush and Iraq doesn’t mean you are right about anything else (including gay marriage, religion, the environment, the death penalty, animal rights, Katrina, taxes, health care, or whether pie is better than cake).

As well, just because we were right about all those things doesn’t necessarily mean we are right about Bush and Iraq. We are, of course, but that isn’t why.

Thank you,

I was told that this was one of the best messageboards on the web and after a few days of lurking, it is a far cry from the more public forums.

I was tired of being called names by both conservatives and liberals.

Things I say that piss off conservatives:
Bush basically lied when he sold us the war in Iraq.
The free market cannot be used to solve most of our problems.
We cannot forego equity for the sake of efficiency.
Bush’s tax cuts not just targetted at benefitting the rich, it is also bad tax policy.

Things I say that piss off liberals:
Over 50% of your lifetime healthcare expenses occur in the alst 2 weeks of your life. If we let you die 2 weeks early, we wouldn’t have a health care crisis.
The death penalty is justifiable if it deters violent crime.
The right to abortion is not and should not be unrestricted.
God loves you.

The thing that disturbs me most:
The religious right. I am religious and I cannot tell you how much the religious right bothers me, especially Pat Robertson.

I think a lot of American Christians – maybe even a “silent majority” – feel that way.

OK, fair enough, but you know, it would be so very, very nice if a lot of moderates and conservatives would look at the facts and think, “Y’know, those Democrats and liberals were dead right about Bush and Iraq. He’s a dick and it was a mistake, it’s true. And although this doesn’t necessarily mean they were right about everything else, I’m going to look REALLY HARD at the claims of Republicans and conservatives next time they make claims about ANYTHING, and I’m going to give serious consideration to any objections Dems or libs may raise, because they sure have been right about things lately.”

Of course, this is not happening, as is evidenced by El Ucidator’s thread, “Half of us are idiots,” inspired by a poll showing that the number of people who believe Saddam has WMD’s has risen from roughly 35% to 40% over the last few months.

Hmmm. Angels and Demons. I think I’ve got a great new idea for a book!

It’s been done, and (unlike the instance you were thinking of) it’s been done well!

That percentage is up to 50% these days. After spending 900 million dollars on the Iraqi Survey Group (dedicated to hunting down WMDs in Iraq), we have concluded that the weapons were dismantled in 1991, the U.N. weapons inspectors concluded the same thing in 2003. Yet 50% of America believes that weapons were there when we invaded. Who is convincing us that these lies are true? nOr do we independently reach these conclusions because we sorely want to believe that our soldiers are dying for a good reason, i.e. we had to go in there to save humanity from WMD and now we are burdened with the task of rebuilding the country we had to destroy to protect the world from WMD but all of this was necessary and all of our soldiers are dying for a good reason.

Are you suggesting it’s time to impeach the people for incompetence?

Wow…5 pages for this silly question. If you want to get a thread to a huge number of pages, nothing beats a good Bush rant. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, that’s not hard to top!

Admittedly, bashing Bush isn’t the ONLY way to get high page numbers and post/read counts. :stuck_out_tongue:

I read another AP story this morning about how 50% of the public think the WMDs did exist, so maybe the answer to this is yes.

Well, for pity’s sake, if the government doesn’t trust the people, why doesn’t it dissolve them and elect a new people?

. . .

On second thought . . . best not to give them any ideas.
