How does it come to pass that?
Star Trek Nemesis world wide box office $67,312,826
Die Another Day world wide box office $431,971,116
If James Bond can thrive for 20 movies there is no reason for Star Trek to be suffering like this.
Nowi t is true that Trek doesn’t have any product tie-in like Bond and Vodka and a car deal and watch. But there is plenty of Star Trek stuff for sale.
There’s a big difference. With James Bond, there’s usually a couple of years between movies, so when the next one comes out, people are ready for more Bond. With Star Trek, we’ve been exposed to it continuously for about 20 years. I think that the general public is just sick of Trek. They need to give it a couple of years off. Rushing another series out to replace Enterprise will just put another nail in the Trek franchise’s coffin.
Someone’s gonna get nitpicked!
He said about.
Remember those SNL parodies of STARTREK? The ones showing Kirk, Spock, Uhuru shuffling around on walkers? Maybe they ought to make a few of these so we will know that the characters are ready for the STARFLEET old sailor’s home.
Aren’t the Starfleet unfiroms getting to be a bit much? Kirk can hardly fit into his, and velvet must be pretty hot under those lights.
Yes, the whole thing needs a rest…probably 10 years, and then they can start cranking out the same stuff again.
Will weever see the Romulans portrayed sympathetically?
Yes. That about was put there deliberately. I didn’t want to go looking for when TNG first aired, which is what I would consider the start of the “continuous Trek” period.
Oh, all right. :: Googles quickly :: TNG premiered in 1987. (I thought it was a couple of years earlier than that.) That makes it 18 years. I rounded
It should be pointed out that they would not get these deals if they weren’t doing great box office world wide. Most what they get from product tie-in is free advertising. Films spend about 30 million on ads but Bond has all it’s partners pay for the ads.
Yeah, but the point is that Bond films have been shiite for te past ten fifteen years.
Still, I can’t knock to hard on any film that features the beautiful and talented Michelle Yoeh. But the Bond franchise became a stumbling, moaning, lurching zombie years ago.
