Under the oppressive rule of The Squad, hips must refrain from lying and gossip.
Please tell me you took a photo of that!
I guess the first step is to replace Fox News with Shakira’s hips.
Just do a google image search for “Shakira Law” and you’ll find plenty of memes, tweets, and other snark about it. Who knows who first started it, but it’s gotten around.
They put a Communist prostitute in as first Lady despite hating both Communists and prostitutes, so I would not expect such consistency on their part.
Trump’s going to force them to choose between him and covid and they’re gonna choose covid
I cannot thank you enough for that! I just followed your suggestion and this awesome pile of nonsense, misspelling, and bad grammar made my day.
I’d say “A pox on both their houses”, but the COVIDiots would probably be into that.
Following up on this, Trump = Sinking Ship, Supporters = Rats.
Sure, it’s nice that Trump is actually saying something sensible for once, but oh, my do the Leopards find his face tasty.
I’m curious if his new weak attempt to compel people to get vaccinated is from a concern that the previous stance has killed off more followers than anticipated.
It’s certainly true that it’s killing off more of his followers than he anticipated. Whether or not it’s five times more Rs than Ds, I don’t think it’s in dispute that it’s more. And his team apparently deliberately ignored the pandemic when they thought it was mainly coming for their opponents: Kushner COVID-19 Plan Axed Because Virus Hit Democrats Worst: Report
So yeah, I think your theory is spot-on.
If you look at his response to Biden talking about how Trump deserves credit for getting the vaccines created, it’s clear that his motive is what it always has been: Getting the praise he feels he deserves for being Donald Trump. Remember, he actually thinks his pandemic response was “perfect”, and it really annoys him when anyone points out his massive failures. So he’s got to lean into the one thing he didn’t manage to screw up.
That it may also help him in the next election is a secondary factor.
My current pet theory is that Trump is doing a partial “face turn” in the hopes of deflecting criticism and appeasing his haters. Maybe he’s trying to deflect the ongoing J6 or DOJ investigations in general. Or maybe someone’s found some COVID-specific smoking gun that he wants to get ahead of.
i.e. Maybe they’ll stop sticking their nose in my business if I act responsibly for a little while.
It’s not a great theory, but then, Trump is not a great man.
I think Dr. Adams is probably right.
“Once he [Biden] gave President Trump those words of affirmation, you heard President Trump come out and say, ‘Thank you, I appreciate that.’ And he applauded it. And I hope we see more of that.”
John Berman, the CNN host, seemed surprised by Adams’ comments on the Thursday show.
He said: “Come on, Dr. Adams. I mean — are you are telling me that Donald Trump didn’t praise vaccines or boosters until Joe Biden decided to thank him for the vaccines? That’s what he was waiting for?”
Adams responded, after saying he’d studied psychiatry and psychology: "People have different words of affirmation, different love languages. That’s the truth.
"That is when you saw Donald Trump change his tune. I’m not saying it’s right. I’m not saying it’s wrong. I’m saying you can’t deny that that is when he changed his tune and came out and supported vaccinations.
“And regardless, that’s a good thing.”
I’m confused about the timeline here. That article is dated today and refers to things that happened “Tuesday,” “Wednesday,” and “Sunday,” presumably of this past week. But it also talks about Trump getting booed at a rally for encouraging his supporters to get vaccinated, and I could swear that happened weeks ago.
ETA: it happened in August: Trump booed at Alabama rally after telling supporters to get vaccinated
Adams is wrong on this.
While you can make a case that Trump should have promoted Covid vaccination more, he publicly encouraged it long before Biden’s praise. From a 3/16 story:
“Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday recommended the COVID-19 vaccine to his supporters, amid concerning recent polls showing Republicans are less likely to get vaccinated.”
"In a phone interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Trump said: “I would recommend [the vaccine]. And I would recommend it to a lot of people that don’t want to get it, and a lot of those people voted for me, frankly.”
“And we have our freedoms and we have to live by that, and I agree with that also,” Trump added. “It’s a great vaccine and it’s a safe vaccine.”
Maybe Adams’ remarks were part of image-scrubbing after having been a part of the Trump administration.
I remember Agent Orange talking up the vax before, but it never seemed to gain much traction. Seems like it is now, and I’m pretty sure this is the first time he contradicted the usual talking points from a righty talking head. It always seemed to me before that he was floating it a bit here and there just to see if he could get himself some credit and when it didn’t work he just dropped it.
What do you mean by his talking up of the vaccine gaining traction it didn’t have before? Are you talking about media coverage of his statements? People listening to him and getting vaccinated? Something else?
Media coverage of his statements. Prior to this, it pretty much came and went, with a good bit of it focused on his getting booed for bringing it up during one of his rallies, which was months ago now. And now that the nuttiest of the nut faction is losing it over his latest statements, it’ll be interesting to see which way he goes.
I think at this point if God himself came down from the heavens and proclaimed the shots all well and good, the hardcore anti-vaxxers still wouldn’t do it.
So we’ve gone from “Trump waited until Biden gave him credit last week to come out in favor of the vaccines” to “the media ignored Trump’s months-long public support of the vaccines until now”?
Come on guys. We don’t need to invent reasons to disparage Trump.
