I’ve been seeing ‘smart window’ prototypes for ages now; these consist of a thin layer of LCD applied to a plastic film (but with no polarising filter) which is switchable between clear and milky-opaque.

I’m itching to get ny hands on some of the stuff as I believe I have a novel use for it.

Is it available commercially? (I’ve done a fair bit of googling on this, but turned up nothing very useful)

For what it’s worth, the new Maybach car has its roof made out of this stuff. Go to their website and look through the gallery to see pics of the roof.
