Forget it? I’m in it! It was awesome.
In Terry Jones’ bit, if you see one of the male choristers with a hardhat substantially askew, that’s me.

I just ordered the blu ray disc with 13 minutes of deleted scenes.
“Mother! They think I’m their savior!”
“Oh, Brian! What have you been telling them now?”
He’s not the Messiah…he’s a very naughty boy!
He’s a very naughty boy.
lyrics
Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best…
…
Life’s a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true.
You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
Aaaaand, always look on the bright side of life…(everybody whistle!)
I saw this movie at the Drive-in when it was first released and it was the funniest movie I’d ever seen. Still is, actually. I love a lot of comedies, but this one has a special place in my heart. It’s certainly by far my favorite Python.
I’d heard that there was a debate about this movie when it came out, but it never affected me and I never went searching for information. Just now on YouTube I found bits and pieces of a TV show Eric Idle and John Cleese were on at the time, debating a clueless bishop and some other guy. I’ve only watched a short snippet, which was very funny, but I plan on watching the longest (though seemingly still incomplete) version. I can’t vouch for it because I haven’t watched it, but here it is. Based on the short snippet, it can’t be anything but entertaining. It’s always entertaining (if sometimes dangerous) when pompous religious figures argue from a completely invalid point.
People like that provided rich research material for the Pythons.
