Its not her fault. No woman should ever be forced to have her head shoved up a blonde pumpkin before appearing on TV.

Holy crap. She was suing her friend who had just lost her daughter ,…under the theory that because said dead daughter had talked her idiot son into something, the grieving mother was somehow responsible? That’s the best combination of cold, greedy, and stupid, I’ve ever heard off.

Even better than my favorite, in which a mother sued her son. He had borrowed money from her that she had withdrawn from her account as she saved for a new WHEELCHAIR. He had avoided paying her by moving out of state , and then moved back and still refused to pay her back. His excuse, “Well I helped her before and never expected to be paid back”

Even though he had agreed to pay her back so she could afford a new wheelchair, he decided he didn’t need to because he had helped her in the past. And then he went on national TV to advertise what an ungrateful loser he was to the world.

Yeah, that pretty much took the cake, though your favorite is right up there with it.

My other favorite is where the plaintiff was suing a tattoo parlor. Her 16 year old daughter got a tattoo in a state where you have to be 18 to get one. She was angry because they never bothered to card the girl. Their defense? “We had a sign that said no one under 18 allowed beyond this point. If she was beyond that point, then she was obviously 18, right?”

Right. Sometimes the rationalization is amazingly stupid.

How many times have you seen the " I don’t owe them because they were mean about it" defense?

I was going to say Sylvia Browne’s worse, but have you ever seen Nancy Grace and Sylvia Browne together? I think NG puts on clown makeup and becomes SB.

Every day at 4pm eastern, on WBZ channel 4. When I’m home.

There was one I loved from way back in the Judge Wapner days. Two young guys were suing the owner of a convenience store because the bought and shared a candy bar that was riddled with maggots. They were suing for $5000. Did they still have the candy bar? No, they ate it. Did they go to the ER? No, they went home. Did they get physically sick? No. Why were they suing for $5000? Because, it was, like, really gross, dude.

They were awarded 50 cents, the cost of the candy bar.

Well, if this is how the thread is going, I’ve got one too, back from the Wapner days, which is probably the most recent time I watched it. A prostitute sued a judge. Why? Because he found her guilty of prostitution and sentenced her to time in prison, and she thought that was unfair. Really. That was the entirety of the case. I don’t think she even claimed she was innocent - just that she didn’t think she should be punished. I remember Judge Wapner asked the defendant why he even showed up, and he said he just thought it sounded like it would be fun. Possibly one of the shortest cases ever filmed.

:D:D That’s funny. I get a kick out of the shows watching the judges react and try to explain.

The judges get irritated when it’s too obvious that people have grossly exaggerated their claims. That one takes the prise though. I’m surprised people don’t know by now that they can’t get emotional damages for your pet being hurt.

There was an old Wapner case where a customer sued a small store because his beer was flat. One can of beer. The judge explained to both men that although he understood principle, it was still a great waste of time to be in court over it. He told the customer, just tell the man you’ll never come back and he’s lost a customer over a flat can of beer.

Then he told the store owner that it seemed like really bad business to doubt the customer and lose his business over a question about 1 can of beer.

I was surprised one day to see a couple I knew walk out to opposite podiums.

I don’t remember what the case was about. I knew them as a acquaintance in local music circles. Seen them preform on stage several times. He had several hits as a songwriter. They were evidently divorced at this point and having a dispute over something that wasn’t settled. I remember noticing that he was being decent, and factual, while she was very nasty and including several gratuitous insults in telling her side of it. Why you’d want that on TV I’ll never know.

The good news is that she’s been [replaced](http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_162-20066053-10391698.html) on Swift Justice.

That must have been weird seeing them on that.

I once saw an episode of Judge Joe Brown in which one of the litigants was Gary Coleman. That show goes a little more over the top than the other ones.

I sometimes wonder what those TV judges think of each other. I’d bet that Judy has contempt for all of them. I know that Marilyn hates being compared with Judy.

Yeah, I figured out the letters all by myself. It’s still sheer bare-assed audacity to call your network OWN. 🙂

Just recently watching Judge Judy, she said something to one of the [del]performers[/del] litigants about being stupid enough to want to air his stupidity on international tv. She gets it.

Judge Judy is a loud-mouthed, conclusion-jumping know-it-all and a perfect example in my opinion of how certain judges let their power go to their heads. Still, nowhere near as reprehensible as Nancy Grace though. Not even in sight of her, really.

Took me awhile to find this, but I had to because this thread wouldn’t be complete without it; it’s one of my all time favorite Dope posts of all time. From my man **Sampiro** :

Sampiro on Grace:

> [@](#):
>
> Nancy Grace on (Larry King live with) Anderson Cooper
>
> * * *
>
> Did anybody else catch this on CNN last night? Anderson Cooper was guest hosting Larry King (while Larry was at home contemplating on how Miami started to look so much like LA, who these damned little kids in his house calling him daddy are, and which wife he’s married to at the moment). The guest was Nancy Grace. In addition to a self promoting incestuous menage for CNN Nancy proved that she is either the greatest performance artist in history (trumping Andy Kaufman, Ann Coulter, GG Allin, and pretty much all other claimants to the crown) or else the single most vapid human being ever to get a multimillion dollar media gig. I honestly believe that if she ever successfully mated with Glenn Beck that they and their resulting offspring would be to IDIOCRACY what Cornelius and Zira and Milo/Caesar were to THE PLANET OF THE APES (minus time travel and Ricardo Montalban).
>
> I should add in here that I hate Nancy Grace not just as an individual (though my hatred there is to the point of the neurotic) but as an archetype. She is incarnate every smug, condescending, rude, enyclopedically ignorant, mercilessly vapid, comically classless, aggressively stupid, intellectually incurious and yet unrelentingly opinionated middle class Southern she-WASP who have ever convinced herself that she is equal to Stephen Hawking in brilliance, Rosalind Russell in class, Ava Gardner in sex appeal, Cher in talent, Thomas Jefferson in knowledge, Gore Vidal in pithy wit, Eleanor Roosevelt in people skills, Oprah in their influence on others and Sophia Loren in ageless beauty when in fact in all these things she’s really closer to Rob Schneider (but with the ego and humility of Jerry Lewis). This is a larger subset of the population than you might think, incidentally- and a disproportionate number of them seem to end up majoring in psychology and or managing cubicle farms or working in public education and or social work for some reason.
>
> Her voice could curdle the milk of a mother whale 2 miles beneath the surface of the water. Her mouthbreathing “I know you are but what am I” gape makes me want to play a game of chess with her but only after silently placing bets on which piece will be the first to wind up in her mouth. She’s a proven liar (the real story of her fiance’s murder versus her account are alike in that both assert he is dead but that’s where it stops), her record as a lawyer includes formal disciplinary measures and multiple accusations of gross incompetence, her gut instincts are on par with Custer at Little Bighorn and her cognitive processes are on par with those of a trout. You absolutely know that she honestly believes Jane Fonda personally waterboarded American soldiers in Vietnam, that Oprah once bodily evicted Tommy Hilfiger from her show for saying racial slurs and giving the Nazi salute, and she probably actually remembers the day she outsmarted that science professor who said if God existed then his chalk wouldn’t hit the ground, and when she is absolutely proven to be wrong in terms so plain even she can almost understand them she believes that changing the subject is the best way to deal with it because everyone else will forget long before you’ve edited your memories to have always been right. She’s like a country club cousin of Peggy Hill who makes Peggy Hill look like Peggy Hill’s assessment of Peggy Hill, or perhaps a better analogy would be she’s Pinky’s intellect fused to Brain’s personality and ego.
>
> But please don’t get me wrong: I hate Nancy Grace.
