No, we will say 'the economy did very well during _six_ years of Bush policies, but then the Democrats took over Congress and things turned around - and headed downhill".

Put it this way - if the economy comes out of recession this year, it will difficult to credit Obama with it - none of his stimulus package has been spent yet. You can credit the Democratic Congress (and Bush) if it does - they passed the bailouts.

If it comes out of recession next year, maybe the stimulus did it. But come what might, the deficit is _definitely_ Obama’s fault - he pushed the stimulus. Just like the current deficit is the fault of Bush and the Democratic Congress - they passed the bailouts.

And the deficit before that is the fault of Bush and the Republican Congress - they failed to cut spending and balance the budget.

Yes, _of course_ you’ll say that - because your purpose will be, predictably as always, to blame the other guys rather than to assess responsibility or even facts. You’ll gain points with no one, though.

All I’m seeing the Republicans do are the same things that Democrats were doing before with Bush. When Bush tried to open a false door Democrats were laughing with glee, but when Obama tried to go through a window, in the White House, no less - that’s somehow different. Bush mispronounces words and that gets him labelled an idiot but when Obama makes gaffes in practically every occasion that he doesn’t use a teleprompter - somehow that’s okay.

The difference now is that the MSM are so much behind Obama during the elections that they are reluctant to criticize him now for fear of Obama fanatics.

That depends. Most of those who voted for Obama wouldn’t know a fact if it bit them in the ass, and a lot of Dopers are the ass where it bit them. So you are probably right - drooling mouth-breathers, and dishonest ass holes who deny facts are never going to admit a flaw in the Adored One.

The interesting question is, _if_ the economy continues to go south, _and_ the deficit and spending go thru the roof, and we go back to the days of stagflation as we did under Mr. Peanut, whether the dolts will figure it out and vote for someone else?

The knee-jerk liars who deny facts are a lost cause, of course. I’m talking about people who _don’t_ consciously make themselves stupider than they have to be.

Only because they know that they will never deviate from liberal orthodoxy concerning race.
