[First, mods, this may be more appropriate for General Questions; given the religious wackiness of the site I’m asking about, however, I’m suspecting the conversation will veer into Great Debates territory, so I’m posting this here. My apologies if this is incorrect.]

My brother just sent me a link to [the Objective Christian Ministries Creation Science Fair](http://objective.jesussave.us/creationsciencefair.html), one of the funnier sites I’ve seen in awhile. Amongst the prizewinning experiments at the site:

> [@](#):
>
> 1st Place: “My Uncle Is A Man Named Steve (Not A Monkey)”
> Cassidy Turnbull (grade 5) presented her uncle, Steve. She also showed photographs of monkeys and invited fairgoers to note the differences between her uncle and the monkeys. She tried to feed her uncle bananas, but he declined to eat them. Cassidy has conclusively shown that her uncle is no monkey.
>
> . . .
>
> 2nd Place: “Women Were Designed For Homemaking”
> Jonathan Goode (grade 7) applied findings from many fields of science to support his conclusion that God designed women for homemaking: physics shows that women have a lower center of gravity than men, making them more suited to carrying groceries and laundry baskets; biology shows that women were designed to carry un-born babies in their wombs and to feed born babies milk, making them the natural choice for child rearing; social sciences show that the wages for women workers are lower than for normal workers, meaning that they are unable to work as well and thus earn equal pay; and exegetics shows that God created Eve as a companion for Adam, not as a co-worker.
>
> . . .
>
> Honorable Mention:
>
> “Geocentrism: Politically Incorrect” - Richard Cody (grade 9)
> “Young Earth, Old Lies” - Melvin Knuth & Glenna Reher (grade 11)
> “Thermodynamics Of Hell Fire” - Tom Williamson (grade 12)

Thermodynamics of Hell Fire! Hee hee hee!

Anyway, the site is in-depth enough, including sections mocking “evolutionists,” that it’s hard to believe it’s a joke. At the same time, I notice that they’ve got a whole project devoted to shutting down Landover Baptist Church, whose leader is “a shadowy figure named Chris Harper who apparently has a history of anti-Christian bigotry”; they link to a page “which shows pictures from an Atheist convention that “Reverend” Chris Harper was a key speaker at with other anti-Christian blackguards such as Douglas Adams and Dave “Mephistopheles” Kong!” Again: hee hee hee!

I can’t figure these guys out. Brilliant satirists, or amazing nutjobs?

I go to your link and all I get is a page adverstising some browser add-on also when I googled “objective christian” I went throught the homepage there but got the same thing.

I can’t get the link to work either, but from what you describe, it has to be satire, doesn’t it (Internet satire seems to thrive on this uncertainty) - Attacking Landover Baptist is a brilliant ploy.

That’s bizarre that the link isn’t working: I can click on it and go directly to the site. Are other folks having that problem? The raw link that I have is [http://objective.jesussave.us/creationsciencefair.html](http://objective.jesussave.us/creationsciencefair.html)

– does that work any better? Or if you Google “Christian Science Fair”, the third entry that pops up is the link I’m describing.

Nope; that link (regardless of whether I click it or paste it in) gets me redirected to [http://www.startsurfingplus.com](http://www.startsurfingplus.com). Same thing if I get there via Google.

That’s just freaky. Why would it send some browsers to one place and other browsers to another? Maybe it has something to do with whether cookies are enabled or something? I’ve never heard of such a thing.

The link works fine for me.

My personal favourite is the Middle School winning entry, “Life Doesn’t Come from Non-life”:
_Patricia Lewis (grade 8) did an experiment to see if life can evolve from non-life. Patricia placed all the non-living ingredients of life - carbon (a charcoal briquet), purified water, and assorted minerals (a multi-vitamin) - into a sealed glass jar. The jar was left undisturbed, being exposed only to sunlight, for three weeks. (Patricia also prayed to God not to do anything miraculous during the course of the experiment, so as not to disqualify the findings.) No life evolved. This shows that life cannot come from non-life through natural processes._

I particularly like the request for non-divine intervention in a science experiment 😃

It must be satire, although if it is, these people sure have a lot of spare time up their sleeves!

I’m pretty sure that OBJECTIVE: Ministries is a put-on (probably by the authors of Landover). There was a thread on this a while back, but I keep getting bounced on the search, this morning.

Check out the “biographies” for the OBJECTIVE: Ministries staff:

He served our country during the Cold War as a Game Theory Tactician for the Department of Defense and single-handedly developed an elegant solution to the “Fisherman’s Quandary”, a game theory problem that was crucial to the winning of the arms race and that was famously intractable - until Diamond Jack came along. Jack also enjoys vexillology and can signal Bible passages from memory in fluent semaphore.

Okay, good call. Their anti-evolution stuff looked just serious enough to be real, and I hadn’t checked out their bio pages. Great stuff!

It’s a [hoax.](http://www.applelinks.com/articles/2002/04/20020423140855.shtml)

[url=http://www.whump.com/moreLikeThis/link/02809]This site seems to suggest that it is indeed put together by the Landover people.

Google does not turn up a “Fellowship University.”
