Is rape worth death?

I was raised with the doctrine that fantasizing about adultery, or for that matter any sin at all, was worthy of eternal torment. How would rape not be worth death?

For the record, I’ve fantasized about adultery. I shoplifted a couple of very small things as a minor. Apparently, I’m already damned by that standard. However, I’ve never raped anyone, & if I caught a man raping someone, I’d kill him on the spot in righteous indignation. So who can explain how my mind works?

(Just in case someone tries to explain how my mind works, that was rhetorical.)
