Is Republican noise about Susan Rice just a ploy to get Scott Brown back into the Senate?

Even money says he will end up at a private equity firm or somewhere else on wall street.

He’s going to Fox News. You may commence feigning surprise. Punditry is much easier than politics and there’s no responsibility or accountability, and Brown doesn’t have background (and probably doesn’t have the brains) for Wall Street.

Hard to see anyone thinking becoming a regular on the Hannity show is a good way to prep for a run at the Massachucettes Governorship, so I imagine he’s writing off that possibility as well.

He was born to be a weather bunny.

Bump here, as the special election to replace Kerry is next week. The candidates, Markey (D) and Gomez (R) faced off in the last of three debates last night, and at the moment it is looking like a pretty easy win for Markey.

“Both candidates had the gloves off, they were very aggressive,” said Jeffrey Berry, a political scientist at Tufts University. But “I don’t think this debate will make any difference at all. Markey entered the evening ahead in the polls and he remains ahead, as far as I can tell.”

The most recent independent survey, released by The Boston Globe Sunday, showed Markey ahead by 13 points.

Anything can happen, of course, but right now if there was any thought that getting John Kerry in as SoS would hurt Dems in the Senate, it doesn’t look like that will come to pass.

My dad, who lives in MA, was visiting this week and went on and on about how terrible Markey is. I think he (Dad) was trying to pick a fight with me, but I could honestly say I knew nothing about either candidate. And I resisted the opportunity to gloat about Warren’s win last year. But he did say that although Brown is currently at Fox, there is suspicion (or maybe just wishful thinking) that he will run for Governor next year.

Brown has been making far more political appearances in New Hampshire than Mass lately. Infer what you will about his career plans.

There have been rumors or reports that he was thinking about moving to New Hampshire to make another Senate run there.
