# Is Richard Lewis funny?

No, you’re getting it. That is his whole schtick.

Thing is, it used to be funny. But now he just seems bored with it. I’m not sure why he never really took off after “Anything But Love” got the axe. I thought he was pretty competent. Maybe it was like Penn Jillette said on the Captain Howdy disc, he might have been “too Hebraic for TV.”

Agreeing with **pcubed** , Lewis used to be funny, now he’s not. Can I nominate two other unfunny comedians?  
**Whoopi Goldberg** and **Margaret Cho**. Can’t figure out _how_ they succeeded in stand up…

I agree that he was funny about 12 years ago. Not anymore, though.

He probably keeps them in stitches in the Catskills, but for mainstream America, his act has grown stale.

Same with Jackie Mason’s routine. I liked him better as the voice of the Aardvark.
