I guess she’s doing a great job at getting people to talk about her, and pay to hear her talk. But her real career would be in porn.

I think she has _ **had** _ ghost-written a book (ie, someone ghost-wrote her _Going Rouge_). I don’t imagine a poorer writer than SP exists that would need her to clean up some prose.

I do hope she runs for President in 2012.
If anyone can rally the Democrats to run back to the polls in the numbers they did when Obama won, it would be a Palin candidacy.
And I would love to see those debates…

Plus, Tina Fey would return to SNL and life would be good again.

Yes she has! She brought cookies to hungry native folks.

Anyway, she helped boost fellow Republican Michael Bloomberg’s numbers a bit when he told her to stick her opinions about the “Ground Zero” mosque.

The Onion people have noted (and I’d agree) that some public figures are basically inherently funny and easy to write articles on, and others are not. There also isn’t much overlap between things like “people who seem to get strong emotions towards them” and “people who are funny to write about”.

Case in point is Palin. While the Fey thing was funny, and a lot of haters definitely want to stick it to Palin…she just doesn’t seem to be inherently funny. Or, perhaps, its that humor based around her is going to rest too strongly on one note: her goofy public speaking style.

George W. Bush is probably the best example of this – despite all the people who loved to jump on his verbal awkwardness, he was very rarely “made the subject of fun” (unless you consider endlessly pointing out that he says “nucular” funny).

Clinton was, for whatever reason, inherently funny and funny to write about. Obama is about 50/50; many of the funnier stories about him don’t really rest on his character. The current funniest person, if you haven’t guessed, is Biden. Like Cheney (much funnier than Bush), Biden is always funny when cast in inappropriate roles (Biden’s Onion alter-ego is a sort of slackerish doofus who’s always up for a party). Cheney and Biden also (in real life) have a great gift for hilarious verbal outbursts, gaffes, and just vaguely-inappropriate statements.

Wow, did I overanalyze the shit outta that, or what?

The South Park guys call it “wearing two hats.” When you have a topic so inherently goofy, weird, or absurd, if you try to make it funnier, you end up in something else besides comedy. I think John Stewart pointed this out several times on the Daily Show during GWB clips: “I really, really wish I was making this up.” Tina Fey also pointed out that she didn’t change anything from Palin’s interviews in her impersonation, she simply said the same thing in the same accent.

Nah, I thought it was a pretty good summary. I have a little additional verbosity to add.

Sarah Palin strikes me as a narcissist. She just doesn’t like reality intruding in her world-view; if she wants something she works her magic and achieves her goal. The problem is she burns her bridges. **Chefguy** was the first person to post on this behavior on these boards AFAK. My sense is that a lot of her supporters are ignoring this issue and some will eventually regret supporting her. But only some; the rest will rationalize that she’s being clever (the gnostic quality that pervades people’s thinking of that ilk.)

The reason its not-so-funny though is it has a freak side-show quality to it–like in the early 20th century. Freaks were consigned as entertainment and not really considered people like you and I. (OTOH, it turned out to be a good thing for the “freaks”–they could make a decent living at it; as opposed to earlier times where “God’s curse” or whatever moral failing was assigned as a cause to the “freakishness.”). As science progressed and social morals changed to one of inclusiveness, we starting seeing “freaks” as persons who got a bad throw of the dice, genetically speaking, and should have rights like everyone else. In the case of Palin and followers–they’ve devolved to see the world around them as a “freak-show” and they’re the “normal” ones, which is where we see the irony that it’s sadly the other way around (hence the comedy, but without the time).

Sarah Palin does speaking engagements, sells her books and goes on talk shows for money. This is the reason that she quit politics. She knows that she is popular. A lot of people view her as a sex symbol.

I honestly think she quit politics, and will not run for President. She has an awful official record. She was the mayor of a small town in Alaska and ran the city 7 million dollars in debt, the she became governor of Alaska and could not even finish her first term in office without quitting. It has been said that privately, Sarah did not like being the Governor and thought the job was “too hard”. When the so called Tea Party invited her to their convention (and wrote notes on her hand) I gave up on the TP. The TP paid her something like $100,000 dollars to be there. Hell, she’ll go speak at a NAMBLA meeting for 100K.

The last VP candidate that lost election had to wait 12 years until his nomination for President. (who is that, he lost in a landslide, but won 8 years later.) The voters also do not elect “former” senators or governors.

I think the Republicans will go with two white guys like Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty. I really do not see either party nominating a woman. I just don’t see the GOP wanting to put Caribu Barbie against Obama. However, I think Obama will be so unpopular by everyone, that the Republicans will have a real shot at 2012.

If I was her manager, I would make her the White Oprah. Quit politics, just give opinions and commentary. Do speeches. Show off that still nice looking ass of her’s. (I think the woman is sexy. A dimwit but hot.) She is Dan Quayle in a girdle.
