If you angle the globe right, you can get a sense of how sparse they really are at the high latitudes. Despite looking relatively thin, there’s still plenty of coverage.

Yes thanks. If you look at a part of the globe (especially the northern latitudes) edge-on, you can see that a single satellite covers a fairly large area based on its altitude.

I haven’t heard of using wood for satellite chassis but I have to question the utility of this.
