# Is Steam slow for others here?

Lately my Steam downloads have been at a markedly slower pace than usual.
My PC is fine and I have a DSL connection which, while not hugely speedy compared to cable, is also distinctly stable and regular (i.e. I always get X-speed, all the time, everytime, no variation in the connection). For giggles I ran a speed test and it gets the same results it always gets (with teeny variation) so the problem is not there.
I know what is usual for my downloads and Steam lately is running at half to 1/4 speed for me. Occasionally I get normal download speeds but those times are getting fewer and further between.
I have heard people selecting other download servers for Steam and getting better results. Have not tried it but might.
So, is it just me or is Steam getting overwhelmed lately?

I haven’t downloaded a game from them in a couple months but I get ridiculously fast downloads from them. It’ll usually tell me that I should expect around 2 hours to download a 6 GB game and I get it in under 30 minutes.

They just upgraded their servers right before the holiday sales too. And yes, my download speeds are great. It pretty much saturates my connection.
