There used to be [self piercing kits](https://vintageearpiercing.wordpress.com/2016/12/06/vintage-to-modern-ear-piercing-equipment/) for earrings where you somehow put the earrings in place, and pinched them a little bit every day or whatever [never was interested, just remember seeing them in the early 70s]
