Exposure to NYT headlines goes well beyond the people who read the editorials. Screen caps of the NYT, “To Serve His Country…,” headline were plastered all over the media. Left, right, and center.
It’s absurd, to assert that no swing voters are exposed to this non-stop Biden bashing.
And they definitely are having an effect on the more panic prone Democrats in DC, a group that undoubtedly reads the paper daily. I think that is who all of these articles have been aimed at more than any other group.
Yes, a magic democrat- and everyone has one in mind- but they are all different- Whitmer, Harris, Newsom, Michelle, even Bernie.

Whitmer, Harris, and Newsom have close enough ideologies that any debate between them would be a mutual admiration society discussion.
I have no idea what Michelle Obama’s policy positions are, but I do know she isn’t going to run.
There is no magic. Biden is no longer qualified for one of the world’s hardest jobs, and lacks the ability to convince voters otherwise. The New York Times is recognizing reality.
What sucks here is that progressives will blame our leading newspapers if Trump wins, when they were just reflecting reality.

No, the New York Times is not pro Trump. That is absurd. Their collective positions reflect an irritation at having their intelligence insulted by Biden’s handlers who insisted and insist that everything was and is fine which the debate, where the theater matters significantly more than the substance, made clear that everything isn’t fine. So, they joined the chorus of those commenting on Biden’s cognitive issues and weird mannerisms. Now that they have, those opinion writers are now invested in their arguments.
The problem is that they are only reflecting certain parts of reality. They should absolutely report on Biden’s difficulty at the debate and age-related questions about Biden, but they seem to be reporting nothing else.
Yesterday, Biden gave an impassioned speech in defense of democracy at the NATO summit and Trump claimed he didn’t know what NATO was.
Today, the NYT has eight Biden is old stories on the front page.
Progressives? Really? This is just goofy. I’m not sure you should be commenting on ‘reality’.
On the one hand, they’re running a lot of “should Biden drop out” / “Democrat x thinks Biden should drop out” articles.
On the other hand, they’ve endorsed Trump’s opponent in 3 straight elections. (They’re on record as saying they will not endorse Trump this year).
If they’re “pro-Trump” they’re really playing some 5-D chess.
The NYT has been running “Biden is too old” stories for months, long before the disaster of a debate. IIRC they have been doing this since early 2024. As has been mentioned multiple times they have an axe to grind because the Biden WH hasn’t kowtow to Sulzberger and the editorial board.
Now that others are joining in they appear determined to punish the Democrats and the nation by turning their “Biden Is Horrible!” BS up to 11. Their behavior is shameful and verges on traitorous given what will happen if Biden stays in the race and loses. And I see nothing to make me think he will budge.
