ETA: maybe this has already been linked to about Russia fighting ISIS: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo…-a7795311.html

From your article:
Russia is trying to buff their rep because they haven’t really been engaging much with ISIS…they have been helping the Syrian’s paste all the OTHER groups Assad is up against. It’s ironic that your repeated theme is how little Americans know about what’s going on and how our propaganda is so one sided, all while lapping up whatever Putin et al toss your way.
You really need to get out more. Aside from those deluded by Putin’s horseshit I think it’s pretty clear that the world, mainly, IS wise to it already. It’s funny that you think this is some sort of American media thing, while my main source of news comes from such Amerian oriented news organizations such as the BBC. You could also go on the pro-American site such as this one. There are tons of articles on this subject…feel free to educate yourself.
Since that Russian announcement, AFAICT, the only aircraft that has been shot down in Syria was an Iranian drone, by an American Strike Eagle, in a location well west of the Euphrates.
ETA: and I like the Aussies, but your article says “Australia joined the US-led coalition in Syria in September 2015, but did not carry out any operations in the country between March and May this year, according to the defence department” so I suspect it won’t make a big difference if that trend continues into June, or even July and beyond.
That’s why I’m inclined towards this explanation. Just wanted to be clear that I don’t have anything more than speculation to back this up…officially, it’s as you and Lemur866 were saying.
The Syrians? Are you aware there’s a civil war being fought there? There are several different factions each of which is claiming to be the legitimate Syrian government. From the viewpoint of the other factions, the Assad regime is illegitimate and the Russians are foreign invaders. So the “real” Syrian government has every right to defend Syria by shooting Russian planes down.
The various Syrian factions have pretty limited abilities to shoot down foreigners’ airplanes. Of all of those factions, Assad’s is probably the most capable, but would appear to be facing the most challenging targets (Americans).
Why would it be, that would be repeating the Russia and the Regime Assad propaganda lies
There is no “fact” of the Regime Assad and the Russians fighting the DAESH and it is not US corporate media or any other weird propaganda distortions that make that so.
That is not a very accurate presentation of the opinions now in the Western europe outside of the circles of the Russian financed extremists circles and that certain fringe of the Old Left who have the Stalin nostalgie.
Exactly and anyone who follows these things in the arabic also knows it.
The repeating idea there is some American propaganda ignoring some great Russian effort is like those deceived fellow travelers repeating the glories of the success of Comrade Stalin.
Perhaps, but that’s a far cry from Russia nuking America, which was what the “SS-18s making their combat debut” comment implied.
And if Russia didn’t make Turkey, a non-nuclear state, suffer kinetic consequences, Moscow will surely only wuss out even more against a nuclear state such as the USA.
Look again at the maps yellow sausage bandit provided.
The Syrian government have nearly re-conquered the whole of east Aleppo province from ISIS.
They still have momentum going south and east in the direction of Deir-Ezzor.
A very large part between Damascus and Palmyra has been secured, again from ISIS. They don’t want a repeat of ISIS retaking Palmyra.
They have also cut off the US proxy forces along the Jordanian border, that were trying to gain control of the Iraqi borderline and maybe go for Deir-Ezzor themselves.
This is what has stung the US, plus that they are making an inroad towards At Tanf, where the US has established a base inside Syrian territory(!)
