# Is the upcoming domination of the electric car going to be a good thing?

This [thread](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/electric-car-power-generation/940635) explores practically the same question. The consensus is that even if all the electricity comes from dirty sources, the emissions are comparable to an ICE, and it gets a lot better as the percentage of electricity from renewable sources increases.
