We have full English breakfasts plus Irish, Scottish and Welsh breakfasts. The latter are just variations on the original (?) English version. I found out there is a full Australian breakfast also although it just seems to be the English version, no kangaroo sausage or anything.

Do the Canadians have their own version? It would have to include pancakes and maple syrup.

Obviously needs to have “Canadian” bacon. j/k
I love looking at the plates on the reddit fryup sub. Some of those plates look like they would serve 4 not 1.
I would bet a breakfast poutine bowl would be a full breakfast. With a side of waffles with maple syrup &bacon.

We don’t have anything so formalized, and nowhere nearly so large. But pretty much every place that serves breakfasts will have a few standards:

1. Two eggs, home fries, choice of bacon or sausage, choice of bread;
2. Stack of pancakes, sometimes with bacon or sausage;
3. French Toast, again sometimes with bacon or sausage.

It’s probably most traditional to get this from a hole-in-the-wall diner in a more working-class neighbourhood\*, but you can also get it in fancier places.

For example, kind of local to me: [Eat the Strip | Cindy's Restaurant](https://eatthestrip.com/blog/cindys-restaurant)

Canadians don’t have a standard “full breakfast” which contains expected things. Truckers and good breakfast places will offer skillets - a big pan of meat and pertaters. Bacon, eggs, toast, fried pertaters and coffee is the most common “breakfast special”, sometimes with sausage, ham, pancakes, fruit and maple syrup at extra charge. Maybe cretons, beans and/or smoked meat in Quebec.

It is just like the average American US breakfast, only colder. At least they have maple syrup.

“Canadian bacon” is not a term often used here. There is ham, back bacon and peameal (unsmoked pork loin rolled in yellow cornmeal).

I would call it ham. Some might call it back bacon, which I see more as the irregular shaped rashers served in the UK.

Good joke!

If the question is legitimate:
The way to keep any bacon from shrivelling or curling while cooking is to dust it with flour.

Of course, you’ll need the broom back.

There is no “full Canadian breakfast.” It’s the same as a “full American breakfast.” In other words, it’s eggs, sausage or bacon; and more eggs, sausage or bacon; and yet more eggs, sausage or bacon. Oh, and home fries. And would you like more eggs?

As one who cannot eat eggs (well, not unless you want me to barf all over everything), it is extremely difficult to find a breakfast that I can eat. Everything is "two eggs, any style, and … " Thankfully, most diners and truck stops can do a BLT, which is my Canadian breakfast. A BLT and home fries, and possibly sausage on the side—breakfast of Canadian champions!

**REAL MAPLE** Syrup. Not the fake _maple_ flavored high fructose corn syrup sold as “pancake syrup”.

If you are south of the M-D line, it’s 2 eggs, sausage/ham/or bacon, grits or home fries, biscuit or toast.

You answer. (My answer is “over medium, ham, grits (Do you have cheese grits? No? Okay, regular grits are fine), biscuit”.)

Response: You want a side of pancakes with that, sugar? (if they offer french toast as an option, it’s a fancy diner or an IHOP).

ETA: Unless you order “Granny’s Breakfast” or “Big Daddy’s Breakfast” in which case you get TWO meats and the pancakes are already included.

That’s lunch (or dinner), you heathen.

The only primary protein in a true southern breakfast is an egg. I will admit to being an agnostic on the style of egg - unlike my grandmother who thought scrambled eggs were as bad as rock-and-roll in terms of their satanic influence and literally refused to make them. Poached egg requests would get a side-eye as they indicated a haughty air and asking for a soft-boiled egg would get you thrown out of the house. I would ask for over-medium and get over-easy and like it or I could eat somewhere else. She was a woman of strong principles and ran a strict Christian kitchen. If over-easy was good enough for Jesus, it was good enough for me. (Only slightly kidding on that last part. She had some…unorthodox…beliefs in what Jesus did and ate.)

Chicken and waffles is, admittedly, a gray area. But is generally considered more brunch than breakfast.

Every diner I’ve ever been to that has chicken-fried steak has it on the breakfast menu, with eggs, hashbrowns (ideally smothered in cheese and gravy), and toast or biscuits.
