> Back when I first played it (on my import switchable US/Japan spice GameCube) I actually gave up at this point. I didn’t play for several weeks, I just couldn’t do it. Then I bought a new surround system and wanted to test some games out, so I slapped Metroid Prime in. I wasn’t concentrating that hard and thus wasn’t stressed, so obviously I breezed through it first time. Definitely the hardest point of the game for me.

I’ve heard the final boss is ludicrously hard. I don’t even know if I have it in my to try to beat him more than once. I am close, but not there yet.

It didn’t take me long. I’ve always said, I love games but am farely crap at them. It is a long fight though and you need to use all the different beam types.

This is why I am now playing through on the WiiU release’s normal mode. It is easier than the GameCube version. I just want to chill my way through it. MP2 should be interesting though, I gave up on the GameCube as I got to a boss that I just could not beat. Maybe I will on the easier mode.

> Unlike Wii titles, which can use the same Wii backwards compatibility as Wii disks, Gamecube games would have have to be emulated like they have to do with other platforms, which means a big performance hit. Maybe significant portions could be virtualized (running on native hardware\_ since the Wii hardware is similar, but it’s still a lot harder than just allowing Wii mode to read data off the hard drive.

> Though I do note that Nintendo has stated plans to put GameCube games on VC.

You can already run Gamecube games (from USB drives, original discs can’t be read) on WiiU if you have a hacked Wii mode (easy to do). [Also works on the Wii, including the RVL-101 model that doesn’t have Gamecube compatibility built in. (But not on the Wii Mini, since those are garbage and not able to be hacked due to lack of an SD card slot).]

No performance hit, not that hard at all, if hackers can do it, big N could for sure if they wanted. They’re just kinds stupid with VC stuff these days (among other things…)

Google “Nintendon’t” if you want more info.
